臓器や組織、構造の一部を取り除く外科手術で、病気や怪我の治療のために行われます。

主に医療現場・外科で使われる正式な用語です。「腸切除術」「腫瘍切除術」などとしてよく使います。完全切除（excision）や生検（biopsy）とは異なり、部分的に取り除く手術です。
