寝る前や眠くなるまで本や他のものを読むこと。寝る前の習慣の一つとしてよく行われます。

日常会話でよく使うカジュアルな表現です。たいていは勉強ではなくリラックスして眠るために読む場面で使います。"子どもを寝かしつけながら読む"という意味でも使われます。
