누군가나 무언가를 낮은 곳에서 들어올리는 것, 또는 종교적·상징적으로 죽음에서 다시 살아나게 하는 의미로도 쓰인다.

'raise from the dead'처럼 종교적이거나 상징적 의미에서 자주 쓰이고, 실제로 들어올리는 경우는 드물다. 주로 수동태나 서술적 문맥에 나온다.
