'purloin' মূলত সাহিত্য, গল্প বা কৌতুকপূর্ণ কথায় ব্যবহৃত হয়। প্রতিদিনের কথোপকথনে খুবই কম দেখা যায়। 'steal' এর তুলনায় বেশি খেলাধুলাপূর্ণ ও পুরানো ধাঁচের।
