プロトコルは、物事の行い方や人・組織のふるまい方を定めた正式なルールや手順のことです。技術や医療、公式行事など幅広い場面で使われます。

主に技術や公的な場面で使われます。「safety protocol」「medical protocol」「protocolに従う」など、セットで用いることが多いです。IT分野や外交儀礼にも用いられます。
