他人をだますために本当の自分を隠して偽る人々。歴史的には、王位などの権利を主張する人にも使われることがある。

通常は相手をだます「偽物」を表します。「actor（俳優）」や子供の遊びには使いません。歴史的には王位を主張する人にも使われます。
