権力のある人に気に入られようとしてお世辞を言ったり、ご機嫌を取ったりすること。多くの場合、不自然または誠実でない態度。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
やや否定的なニュアンスで、あからさまなご機嫌取りやお世辞に使います。「上司にご機嫌を取る」などで使い、遊び（play）とは無関係です。
