台座とは、像や物を置くための土台や支えのことです。比喩的に、人や物をとても尊敬したり理想化した位置を指すこともあります。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

美術や建築で物理的な台座に使われることが多いです。'put someone on a pedestal' で「誰かを理想化（偶像化）する」意味になります。
