Definition

何かの動作や活動をしばらく止めて、また続けること。特にビデオや音楽などのメディア、あるいは自分の行動を一時的に止める時によく使います。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主にメディア（ビデオや音楽）の操作で使われますが、一時的な中断全般にも使えます。『paused for a moment』は「少しの間止めた」という意味で、『stopped』よりも一時的なニュアンスです。
