Definition

知識や伝統、物などを次の世代に受け継がせること。形のある物・ない物のどちらにも使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

有形・無形のもの両方に使われる。'pass down from generation to generation（代々受け継ぐ）'という表現がよく使われる。'pass out'（気絶・配る）とは意味が異なるので注意。
