Definition

誰かや何かが“やりすぎ”な場合、普通や常識を超えて極端だったり大げさだったりする様子。

カジュアルな表現で、批判や冗談めかして使われます。「excessive」と似ていますが、「over the hill」とは違います（年を取ったという意味ではありません）。

His birthday party decorations were over the top.

彼の誕生日パーティーの飾り付けは**やりすぎ**だった。

Her reaction to the joke was a bit over the top.
