計画や文章などの全体像や主要なポイントを明確・整理して示すこと。細部よりも構成や要点に焦点を当てる。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に学術、ビジネス、創作分野で使われます。「outlining ideas」「outlining a plan」の表現によく出ます。'summarizing'（要約）とは違い、'outlining'は構造を示します。文章だけでなく、図形の輪郭を描く意味もあります。
