দুটি ব্যক্তি বা বস্তু আসলে একই, তারা কেবল একে অপরের মতো নয়, বরং একেবারে একই।

প্রধানত আনুষ্ঠানিক বা জোরালো কথায় ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমন: 'তারাই একই ব্যক্তি'। 'the same as' কেবল সাদৃশ্য বোঝায়, 'একই ব্যক্তি' সম্পূর্ণ মিল বোঝায়।
