물건을 다른 사람이나 가게에 맡겨서 팔도록 하고, 물건이 실제로 팔릴 때만 주인이 돈을 받는 것. 판매자(가게)가 미리 상품을 구매하지 않는다.

비즈니스에서 쓰는 공식적 표현. '위탁 판매로 팔다', '위탁 판매점' 등이 흔함. 상품 소유권은 판매 전까지 주인에게 있음. 미술, 의류, 골동품 분야에서 자주 씀.
