待機中

Definition

誰かが「待機中」の場合、通常の勤務時間外でも、必要があればすぐに対応できるように準備している状態です。

医療や技術職でよく使われます（例: '当直医'）。'on duty'（勤務中）と違い、今働いているわけではなく、呼ばれたら対応できる状態です。

The doctor is on call tonight.

医者は今夜**待機中**です。

My dad is on call this weekend.

父は今週末**待機中**です。

Nurses are on call at night in hospitals.
