Notar ou ver algo cuidadosamente, muitas vezes com um objetivo específico. Também pode significar cumprir regras ou tradições.

Comum em contextos formais ou científicos: 'observed behavior', 'It was observed that...'. Pode significar observar com atenção ou seguir tradições ('observed a holiday'). Não é igual a 'watched' (ver casualmente) ou 'noticed' (notar subitamente).
