Se usa en contextos formales, como trabajos, premios o elecciones. Suele ir seguido del puesto ('nominate to the board'). No confundir con 'appoint' (asignar oficialmente). Se usa mucho en voz pasiva ('was nominated to'). Para premios, se usa 'nominate for' ('nominated for best actor').
