つぶやき不平の声

Definition

小声ではっきりしない言葉や音で、不満や不機嫌を周りに聞こえないようにつぶやくこと。

複数形で使われ、あちこちからの不満や文句の小声を表す。'mutterings about～'で「～についての不満の声」。はっきり言わず陰で言うニュアンスが強い。

There were quiet mutterings in the classroom.
