한 곳에서 다른 곳으로 옮긴 것. 주로 살거나 일하기 위해 사람 또는 동물이 먹이나 더 좋은 환경을 찾아 이동할 때 사용한다.

주로 과거 시제로 사용하며, 사람들이 다른 나라로 이주하거나 동물이 계절 따라 이동할 때, IT에서 데이터/시스템을 옮길 때도 쓴다. 'immigrated'(들어옴), 'emigrated'(나감)와 혼동하지 말 것.
