যন্ত্র বা যন্ত্রের কার্যপ্রণালীর মতো, অথবা কোনো কিছু অনুভুতি ও চিন্তা ছাড়াই স্বয়ংক্রিয়ভাবে করা বোঝাতে ব্যবহার হয়।

'mechanically' মানে শুধুমাত্র যন্ত্রসংক্রান্ত নয়, বরং নির্লিপ্তভাবে, অভ্যস্তভাবে কিছু করা বোঝায়। যেমন 'mechanically উত্তর দেওয়া' বললে বুঝায়, ভাবনা-ভাবনা ছাড়া বা উদাসীনভাবে কিছু বলা।
