「マーク」とは、物に残る跡や印、記号のことです。また、複数形では学校の成績や点数を指すこともあります。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

文脈で意味が異なります。「get good marks」は成績を指し、「leave marks」は傷や跡、「punctuation marks」は句読点を意味します。アメリカ英語では学校成績は「grade」と言うことが多いです。動詞の「mark」とは別です。
