隊列を組んで歩くことで、通常はパレードや儀式の一部として、兵士や団体が観客や来賓席の前を通るときに使います。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

『march past』は主に軍事や公式な行進、式典で使います。名詞や動詞句としても使われ、日常会話ではあまり使われません。『marching band』（マーチングバンド）や『march』（歩く）とは区別してください。
