非常に異常でコントロールできないほどの熱狂や興奮、狂気を感じさせる様子を表します。場合によっては危険さも含まれます。

主に極端で狂気じみた笑いや行動を強調したいときに使います。「maniacal laugh」など、漫画や悪役の描写で多く使われ、日常的な状況にはあまり使われません。

The villain gave a maniacal laugh.
