Mamut, eski çağlarda yaşamış yünlü ve çok büyük bir fil türüdür. Ayrıca, çok büyük veya devasa şeyleri tanımlamak için de kullanılır.

Hem hayvanı hem de çok büyük büyüklüğü (iş, görev vb.) anlatmak için kullanılır. Özellikle 'a mammoth task' gibi deyimlerde karşılaşılır.
