Definition

理想的ではなくても、今あるもので何とかやっていくこと。

「make do」はカジュアルな表現で、「make do with～」は「～で済ませる、我慢する」という意味で使われます。理想的でない時に使います。「make up」や「do without」とは意味が違うので注意。

We don't have any juice, so we'll have to make do with water.

ジュースがないので、水で**なんとかします**。

If you forget your umbrella, you'll have to make do with your jacket.

傘を忘れたら、ジャケットで**なんとかしないといけません**。
