Originalmente, um bloqueio em um rio causado por troncos; figurativamente, uma situação em que o progresso para devido a muitos problemas, obstáculos ou desacordos.

Geralmente figurado, usado para situações paradas por impasses, especialmente em negócios, política ou negociações. 'Break the logjam' quer dizer destravar a situação. Não se usa para engarrafamentos de trânsito.
