訴訟とは、人や組織が裁判所を通じて争いごとを解決しようとする法的な手続きのことです。

主に法的またはビジネスの場面でフォーマルに使われます。複数の訴訟を指す場合が多いです。「pending litigations」や「civil litigations」などのフレーズで使われます。「仲裁（arbitration）」とは異なります。
