人に対して正式に話したり授業を行ったりすること。時には、相手を長々と叱ったり説教する意味でも使われる。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

授業や講義の意味と、説教やお小言の意味両方に使われます。講義の場合はややフォーマルですが、説教の場合は少し否定的なニュアンスがあります。
