Definition

地雷は地面や地中に設置され、人や車両が踏むと爆発する爆発物です。主に戦争や紛争で使われます。

主に軍事や戦争の文脈で使われます。「political landmine（政治的な地雷）」のように、隠れたリスクや敏感な話題のたとえにも使われます。日常会話ではあまり使われません。
