何かを始めるプロセス、または人がグループや活動、組織に加わるときに行われる儀式のことです。

「開始」は一般的な始まり、「入会儀式」はクラブなどの正式な儀式に用いられます。「initiation ceremony」「initiation process」としてよく使われ、「initiative」とは意味が異なります。
