কোনো সমাজ বা প্রতিষ্ঠানের সুষ্ঠু চলার জন্য দরকারি মূল কাঠামো যেমন সড়ক, বিদ্যুতের লাইন, ভবন ইত্যাদি।

বেশিরভাগ সময় সরকারী বা ব্যবসায়িক আলোচনায় ব্যবহৃত হয়। 'public infrastructure', 'digital infrastructure' প্রভৃতি শব্দগুচ্ছ দেখা যায়। সাধারণত বড় পরিসরের সিস্টেম বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
