탄핵하다

Definition

대통령이나 판사 등 공직자가 중대한 잘못을 저질렀을 때 공식적으로 고발하여 직위에서 물러나게 만드는 것.

공직자를 엄중히 공식적으로 고발할 때만 사용. '대통령', '판사' 등과 많이 함께 쓰임. 일반인이 쓰는 고발에는 쓰지 않음.

The committee is impeaching the mayor for corruption.

위원회는 시장을 부패 혐의로 **탄핵하고 있다**.
