Definition

オオカミや犬が月や誰かに向かって大きく長く遠吠えすること。また、時には人が大声で何かに叫ぶことにも使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に動物（特に犬やオオカミ）に使います。「howl at the moon（月に向かって遠吠えする）」など。人に使うときはユーモラスや誇張的に、大声で叫ぶ場合です。普通の会話や静かな声には使いません。
