땅과 평행하게 펼쳐지거나 옆으로 나아가는 상태를 의미합니다. 주로 선, 표면, 위치를 설명할 때 사용됩니다.

'수평선', '수평 자세' 등 기술적, 과학적, 설명적 용어로 많이 사용되고, 'vertical'(수직)과 대조됨. 'parallel'(평행)과 혼동하지 말 것.
