南の方向に移動したり旅行したりすること。口語では、状況が悪化する意味でも使います。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

直訳では移動方向、比喩的には物事が悪い方向に進む時に使います。「すべてが南に向かう」は「すべてが悪化する」意味。フォーマルな文書には使いません。
