"have by" in Korean

(시한까지) 가지다(~까지 받아두다)

Definition

특정한 시간 또는 마감일 이전에 어떤 것을 갖거나 완료하는 것. 주로 언제를 받을지, 끝낼지 이야기할 때 쓴다.

대부분 마감이나 약속과 함께 자주 쓰임. 예: 'have it by Friday.' 요구나 지시일 때도 있음. 평소 이미 소유한 물건에는 쓰지 않고, 임무나 전달, 필요사항에만 쓴다.

Please have the report by Monday.

월요일까지 **보고서 준비해 주세요**.

I need to have it by tomorrow morning.

내일까지 **받아야 해요**.

Can you have it by the end of the week?

이번 주말까지 **끝낼 수 있어요**?

I'll try to have the package by Thursday afternoon, but no promises.
