'Hailstones' आमतौर पर बहुवचन में ही प्रयोग होता है, क्योंकि लोग अकेले ओला बहुत कम कहते हैं। यह शब्द मुख्यतः मौसम के बारे में बातचीत में आता है। 'Snowflakes' (बर्फ के फाहे) से न मिलाएँ।
