किसी चीज़ को धीरे-धीरे रगड़कर घिस देना, या समय के साथ किसी को मानसिक या भावनात्मक रूप से थका देना या कमजोर करना।

शारीरिक (दांत, औज़ार) या भावनात्मक (आत्मिक थकान) दोनों संदर्भों में प्रयोग होता है। ज़्यादातर बोलचाल में, खासकर भावनात्मक संदर्भ में। 'grind up' (बिल्कुल पीसकर चूर-चूर करना) से भ्रमित न हों।
