عدم الوفاء بما وعدت به؛ أن تخل بكلمتك أو تخلف التزاماً قطعته على نفسك.

Usage Notes (Arabic)

يستخدم هذا التعبير في المواقف الرسمية وغير الرسمية، وغالباً ما يعبر عن خيبة أمل أو خيانة للثقة. يُستعمل أيضاً بصيغة 'go back on your word'. لا تخلط بينه وبين 'take back' (استرجاع أو سحب شيء سابقاً).
