接着することは、のりや接着剤を使って物をくっつける作業やプロセスです。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

'gluing'は今まさに接着している動作でよく使います。「紙をのり付けする」「部品を貼り合わせる」など工作や修理時によく用いられます。テープなど他の接着法には使いません。
