感情や特徴を表す語が後ろにきて 'gleam with joy' のような表現になることが多い。詩的、描写的な文脈で使われやすい。'glow'（持続的な輝き）と区別して使う。'gleam with' は短い、内側からの輝きを表すことが多い。
