남의 시선을 피하려고 몰래 또는 조심스럽게 행동하는 것. 죄책감이나 들키고 싶지 않은 이유가 있을 때 사용함.

격식이나 문어체에서 비밀스럽고 수상쩍은 행동을 표현할 때 주로 사용함. 예시: 'furtive glance', 'furtive movement'. 가벼운 비밀에는 잘 쓰지 않음.
