両側へ行ったり来たり動くこと。何かが左右に移動する様子を表す。

動作や視線の横方向の移動表現でよく使う。'左右に揺れる'や'左右を見る'などで使われる。前後（back and forth）とは区別される。

The boat rocked from side to side in the water.
