Definition

이야기나 사건에서 앞으로 일어날 일을 미리 암시하거나 힌트로 제시하는 것.

주로 문학, 영화 해석에서 사용함. 대사나 상징, 사건을 통해 미래를 암시할 때 쓴다. '예측하다'처럼 직접적으로 말하는 것과 다름. 일상 대화에서 드물게 사용.

The dark clouds foreshadowed the coming storm.

먹구름이 다가오는 폭풍을 **복선으로 보여주었다**.

The music in the movie foreshadows something bad will happen.

영화 속 음악이 무언가 나쁜 일이 일어날 것을 **암시한다**.
