Definition
Un ford es una parte poco profunda de un río o arroyo por donde pueden cruzar personas, animales o vehículos. También puede usarse como verbo para decir que se cruza el agua por un lugar así.
Usage Notes (Spanish)
Se usa sobre todo en geografía, historia, literatura y contextos de naturaleza; no es una palabra cotidiana para la mayoría de los estudiantes. Como sustantivo, aparecen expresiones como 'cross at the ford' y 'a shallow ford'. Como verbo, 'ford a river' significa cruzar el agua por dentro, no por un puente. Ojo: 'Ford' con mayúscula también es una marca de coches y un apellido, con otro significado.
