Atirar em alguém ou algo com uma arma. Frequentemente usado para descrever o início de um ataque a tiros.

Usado principalmente em contextos militares, policiais ou violentos. A expressão recebe um objeto: 'fire on the enemy'. Não se aplica a demitir alguém ou acender fogo.
