特別な行事やお祝いで、たくさんの美味しい料理を皆で楽しんで食べること。普通の食事より豪華な場合に使います。

普段の食事ではなく、行事やお祝いごとで使います。'〜を食べてごちそうを楽しんだ'のように使い、やや丁寧・文学的な響きがあります。
