आमतौर पर व्यापार, विज्ञान, तकनीकी या विकास के लिए इस्तेमाल होता है। 'of' के साथ आता है: 'expansion of the company'। 'contraction' के विरुद्ध उपयोग होता है। लोगों के बढ़ने के लिए नहीं कहते।
