為瞭解釋或為某事辯解而提出的理由（常常不是真的或不夠好），特別是為了避免被指責或批評。

Usage Notes (Chinese (Traditional))

常用於表示理由很牽強、不夠好或是假裝推卸責任。常出現在 'make an excuse for' 或 'use ... as an excuse for' 句型。正式與非正式場合皆可用，但不適合用於有力正當的解釋。
