যখন কোন কিছুর প্রয়োজনের চেয়ে বেশি থাকে, সেটাকে অতিরিক্ত বা বাড়তি বলে। এটা পরিমাণ, সংখ্যা বা ব্যবহার সব ক্ষেত্রেই হতে পারে।

Usage Notes (Bengali)

বেশিরভাগ সময়ে 'অতিরিক্ত' শব্দটি স্বাস্থ্যসেবা, বিজ্ঞান, বা আনুষ্ঠানিক প্রসঙ্গে ব্যবহৃত হয়, যেমন 'excess weight', 'excess sugar', 'in excess'। ব্যক্তি বর্ণনায় ব্যবহার হয় না। সাধারণত নেতিবাচক অর্থই বোঝায়।
